Thanks Eric. I appreciate the perspective on pagan rituals. However, I question the "order" argument. Should we ever use milk to boil anything then? Seems that without some kind of limit this could be applied in any way you wanted. Textually and contextually the emphasis seems to be going slightly different than "order." That's why I used provision instead.

Hey i was reading this scripture too and i had to do a research project on this. What i found was that the people at the time were boiling the kid in the goats milk in a pagan ritual to produce rain. As we know is Deut. 5:9 that god wants exclusive devotion. So doing this, they would be doing the exact opposite. Also the milk was used to nurture the kid and not to destroy it in boiling. This would be a mis-use of the order that god has established for the purpose of the milk. Also it shows his compassion. Hopefully that helped.

Re: Staying Cool and Collected
I have several questions and reservation about this section.
- How much of this is a reflection of personality? I wouldn't consider General Patton to be cool and collected.
- What is the proper balance? It is true that a leader who does not project confidence is not a good leader. And it is also true that often times God is glorified through our weakness.

My take:
Personnality has a great role to play, but we should be aware of the associated weaknesses. An impassioned leader has great potentiential to generate passion in followers, but the lows can be very low and discouraging to followers (as they were for King David).
